Meaning 'bliss', Ista delivers first-class business accommodation in a cool, minimalist package. It's ideal for style mavens with an aversion to Indian glitz, even though the rooms are on the small side. In compensation, super size windows offer sweeping vistas of Ulsoor lake or the city.Monotone is the design theme here, the strongest colour impression made by the caramel leather headboards of the beds. Blond wood floors, translucent blinds, a window seat, and an ergonomically-designed Herman Miller swivel chair at the glass-top desk round out the picture. The suites offer more room (but are hardly large) and come with their own balconies. Service by the pinstripe-suited staff (even their saris are in pinstripes!) is unstuffy and very much can-do in attitude. The hotel pays homage to the Lido cinema, the beloved former occupant of the site, at its 24/7 Lido cafe. This opens out to the small pool and sun deck suffused with greenery.
