This well-located hostel, also known as the Plovdiv Bulgaria Inn, is just off Ploshtad Stambolov. It offers decent dorm beds and all the usual hostel services, though it is a bit run-down compared to the other local options. The owner speaks English and Japanese as well as Bulgarian.Plovdiv's oldest hostel, stuck in an old apartment block off the square, is starting to show its wear, and service can be indifferent. However, the dorms are clean if prosaic, and PBI offers internet, laundry service, luggage storage and lockers, a kitchen for travellers' use and a bar that has a faint feel of subculture. If you want to be near the action, it's hard to beat for location.
