This classic five-star establishment has the best location of Tbilisi's existing top-range hotels and is a palace of excellent service and facilities. It's aimed at the business and international-agency crowd, so it's rather formal and quiet.

The rooms are spacious, with super-comfortable beds, and the bathrooms are huge. The hotel also houses Cafe Parnas and the Majestic Restaurant (with Italian food), as well as a ballroom, meeting rooms, exchange office and a very good fitness centre. There's wireless internet throughout, plus a business centre and secretarial and translator services for those in need. This hotel has a lot of history behind it - originally built in 1914-15, it became the Georgian flagship hotel of the Soviet state tourism organisation, Intourist. Then it was restored and upgraded by Marriott and reopened in 2002. It has enjoyed an unchallenged position as Tbilisi's top hotel since then, although competition is now on the way with no less than six new top-class international hotels opening in central Tbilisi in the next few years.
