Freestyle is the hostel of the iPod generation: clean, courteous and chic. Dreamed up by a young Marplatense who backpacked around New Zealand, this slick setting offers spacious dorms and stylish doubles with bathroom and kitchenette.

By and for travellers, Freestyle anticipates your needs with spunky desk service and gentle pampering. If it's howling outside you can shoot some pool or lounge on a bean-bag chair with a book. The best views are from the penthouse lounge, with cream-colored faux-leather sofas ringed by panorama views. Cozy fleece blankets strike appeal in tidy four-bed dorms. In comparison, doubles seem sort of cramped, with oversized furniture and little light in their interior spaces. Guests get a good do-it-yourself continental breakfast and use of a marble countertop cooking area. The vibe is laid-back, welcoming and very young.
