On a good day (of which there are many here) the atmosphere in this old, stylish house in a leafy residential area makes it feel like a bunch of friends have got together for a calm, relaxing weekend.

Guests cover the whole spectrum of ages, which only contributes to the intimate, family-like vibe. Rooms count eight and have high ceilings, fresh white walls, creaky wooden floors (forget tip-toeing - everyone will still hear you) and a bright airy feel. Families are well-catered for with four-bedded rooms, a spacious old-fashioned bathroom with tub (two rooms share each bathroom) and a flowery garden. Breakfast is a hearty affair, set to last you well past lunchtime, and free-wheeling guests can rent bicycles. This charming B&B is the love of Isabelle, a Zürich-born gal who studied tourism in Lucerne and later worked for the tourist board before going it alone.
