This smart business hotel is smack-bang in the middle of the city and couldn't be more convenient for shops, offices and transport. It's not exactly original in decor or vibrant in atmosphere, but the staff are super-friendly and helpful.

The hotel's lobby also houses a bar, upholstered in generic blues and browns, and a restaurant, Berkley's on Ann, that's really just an extension of the lobby, with no atmosphere at all but a good range of hearty food such as lamb rack and ribs. There's also a cellar with a good selection of Aussie and international wines. The rooms themselves come in two styles - one- or two-bedroom apartments with an additional sitting room, or studio rooms without the extra seating area. They're all decorated in safe browns and creams, and have CD/DVD players, Internet access and little kitchenettes that include hot plates, a microwave, coffee, tea and snacks. There's also a fridge and a handy clothes washer/dryer, making this an ideal option for families or long-stay businesspeople.
