The Rila is the flagship property (and the only hotel) in the Universum group, and a key player in summertime hostel accommodation in Budapest. It's a 39 room former workers' hostel that has been spruced up into quite a nice little property.

Open year-round, the Rila has hostel and hotel accommodation. The hotel rooms can sleep up to five people (though most have just single beds) and have ensuite bathrooms. The guestrooms are a cut above most such conversions and are bright and colourfully (if simply) decorated. There's a couple of outlets, including a bar and a rustic Hungarian restaurant with old photographs on the walls. In the warmer months it has a beer garden on the terrace. It's a bit far flung; the easiest way to reach central Pest from here by public transport is to take tram No 24 west to the Danube and change there for tram No 2 heading north.
