One of the Pueblo Bonito chains, the Sunset Beach has a choice of deluxe rooms or deeeeeluuuuxe rooms. Perched on a cactus-strewn hillside overlooking the Pacific, it's a perfect place to sip something special and watch the sun plop into the sea.The Sunset Beach is so large that its guests, on arrival, have to be shuttled in golf carts from the reception desk to their palaces, er, rooms. Said quarters sparkle, many have Jacuzzis, and if the honeymooning neighbors make you feel like tying the knot yourself, there's even a chapel. The plan seems to be that once you're here, you won't need to leave...and many people do just that: nothing. If you're here to unwind, and you've got mucho dinero, you'll be pleasantly pampered and supremely comfortable. The downside is the long haul from the center of town, making it less than ideal for tearing up the town late at night. As with all Pacific-side beaches, swimming is dangerous, so despite the gilded glory, you're stuck in the middle of nowhere.

They don't call it Sunset Beach for nothing: take a lover, friend, or even a good margarita and sit on the warm sand as that giant orange globe crashes into the horizon. If you're lucky and it's a cloudless sunset you'll see a bright green flash at the very end. If you see it, make a wish - it's a natural phenomenon that will supposedly make that wish come true.
One of the swimming pools has an 'infinity' (wet) edge.
