Four kilometers west of town, the Coco Pando can be inconvenient if you don't have a car; then again, many guests come not so much to explore the area as to just sit back and relax for a while. And for that it's well suited: large, comfortable rooms, with fridge, purified water, free internet and use of kayaks and hammocks. The beach is so-so at best, but the restaurant is excellent and the hotel offers free pick-up and drop off.

Owner Charlie Meador is a regular on LP's Thorntree forum, and the resort website has lots of good info.
