Opened in 1874, the Grand Hotel is one of Palermo's most historic hotels. Like a royal court it has been the scene of intrigue, double-dealings and liaisons throughout Palermo's history, although it was abandoned by the elite in the 1970s in favour of Villa Igiea. The grand salons still impress with their chandeliers and gigantic mirrors while the rooms are sumptuously decked out.
