Colonial Lodge is your best option if you're wanting to stay closer to the city centre. A restored colonial home, the lodge is run by a friendly family. There's a veranda where you can lounge in a hammock and dinner is sometimes available; ask ahead. Private rooms upstairs are much brighter than those downstairs with the exception of the one room with en suite; it's downstairs, huge and lovely.

The lodge is only a 20-minute walk from town however the area is notorious for muggings; make sure you get a taxi after dark. The lodge has two dogs to keep you safe; unfortunately they may also wake you up at night.
