Lonely Planet review

It took a while, but hostels have finally arrived in the Amazon, here as well as Belém. This HI-registered, Australian-operated hostel has small comfortable dorms (including a women's only room), self-serve laundry machine, and two open-air patios ideal for nursing a beer - the one on the roof has great city views. You also get lockers, luggage storage, kitchen access, and internet service, and the neighborhood, while not problem-free, is safer than the Zona Franca area.
