Village & Life is a property company with many accommodation options scattered around De Waterkant village. This is one of their best, a homely yet elegant B&B housed in a restored Cape Georgian mews cottage.

Guests at De Waterkant House are served rusks and coffee in their rooms every morning. There's a fireplace for cold winter evenings, and a mosaic plunge pool complete with mini-waterfall for hot summer afternoons. The interior of the house is homely and warm, with a vaguely rural feel about the wooden-floored living room with its deep-orange armchairs, and a full self-catering kitchen. The rooms are more modern in style than the sitting room, with spare, elegant interiors, jute carpets and black-and-white sketches on the walls. If this property is full ask about Village & Life's equally appealing and slightly more upmarket The Charles.
