Away from the mobs yet within spitting distance of the Uffizi Galleries and the Arno, this straightforward Oltrarno hotel offers good value by Florentine standards. Its greatest feature is the large, rooftop terrace, which looks across a leafy park to the river. You reach the hotel via a classically Florentine courtyard, including Roman-style statuary, potted plants and an arcade built of the local blue-grey stone. The reception and common areas of the hotel is dignified enough, though in no way stylish or even particularly fresh or new. Furnishings inside the rooms are similarly dated, though certainly comfortable enough. A few of the rooms also boast fine views of the Florence skyline - and at no surcharge. Rates also include a full breakfast which, weather permitting, you can take outside on the terrace.
