The fab little Claddagh Hostel is one of those far too rare combinations of a secure home-away-from-home that's also spotlessly clean top to bottom and has a convenient, central location. On the site of the former Celtic Hostel, but completely renovated and run by its new owner/manager, Dave, this renovated multilevel terrace house with 42 beds has two great common areas: a lounge/TV room with lots of DVDs and a floor-ceiling glass bay window, and - one floor up - a kitchen and dining room with a second bay window. Amenities include free breakfast, free Internet and free wi-fi. (The showers on the third floor are your best bet as they stay hot all day). If you're keen to know what's in store, spiritually speaking, the Claddagh has its own resident Tarot card reader, Vlad, who can give hostel guests discounted in-house readings.
