The Mandarin Oriental is one of KL's finest hotels, with a great location bang next to the Petronas Towers and the fancy Suria KLCC mall. Inside you'll find some excellent bars and restaurants, not to mention opulent styling and design.

You know you're in for something special when the huge, heavy lobby doors have metre-long serpent-like handles, and they're pulled open for you by staff dressed in traditional garb. Everything, from the fresh flowers exploding in the lobby to the shell-shaped soap in the marble-trim bathrooms, has been attended to. Guestrooms are perfectly presented, with way more reading lights and strategically placed cushions than necessary. The double-set drapery creates a cocoon, but who would want to block out views of those towers? If you can really be bothered moving from your room, there's a lipless pool overlooking a verdant slice of KL, as well as tennis and squash courts, a gym, seven food and beverage outlets and every facility that a business exec could need.
