Shepherds Bush has never been a 'cool' part of town so it might surprise some to find a chichi hotel like K West located smack bang in the heart of it. But with the BBC around the corner and the independent television production company Endemol on their doorstep, somebody obviously realised that visiting TV execs needed somewhere suitably trendy to stay.

K West is a hip hotel built out of straight lines and lots of glass. Rooms are understated, but in a way that makes you realise a lot of thought (and money) has gone into them; dark wood and suede versus stainless steel and sandblasted glass run the bedroom gauntlet. The K Suites are particularly fun and take unnecessary luxury to another level - who ever heard of foot-massaging carpets? With triple-glazed windows and beds that are two metres squared, it's a wonder anyone manages to make their checkout time. Sleeping aside (media types never sleep anyway), the K West offers up groovy tunes in the K Lounge and indulgent pampering in the K Spa. Media darlings have never had it so good.
