The flower-bedecked 'Old Willow Tree' is a comfortable and welcoming hostelry in the northern Marais and something of a find because of its slightly unusual location just 350m (380 yards) south of place de la République. 'Superior' rooms are on the 3rd and 4th floors. The 28 guestrooms, accessed by tiny lift or a tight, curving staircase, are on the smallish side and decorated in cheery shades of peach and yellow. The hotel boasts a small sauna, and there is a tranquil little garden on full display behind glass off the lobby. Breakfast is served in the original 16th-century vaulted cellar bedecked with antique copper pots and cooking utensils. The hotel is air-conditioned throughout.
