This hostel is not just central, it's actually in Central Station! A nouveau-industrial renovation has turned a former parcel shed (complete with platform) into a hip hostel. You can even sleep in four-bed dorms in converted train carriages. The kids will love it (but bring earplugs). Some of the dorm accommodation is in a few of New South Wales' old 'red rattler' train carriages, moored by the old platform. The dorms are spotlessly maintained, but the private rooms have large bunks (with a double bed) and can sleep three people - fork out the extra bucks for a bathroom of your own and you need never know that you're in a hostel. All the rooms have windows too - a nice touch in a city that has far too many airless boxes masquerading as budget accommodation. The decor here leans more to the functional side of things than the fancy, and everything is in good working order. All up, you'll find 280 spots to sleep here, but also a lot of people keen to do so, so book ahead. There's a pool out the front, too!
