Turin's 76-bed HI hostel, 1.8km from the train station, can be reached by bus 52 (bus 64 on Sunday) from Stazione Porta Nuova. Facilities are good (including online computers, wi-fi, and dinner Monday to Saturday for around 1050) and breakfast's included, but there's an afternoon lock-out.

Plonked down in a leafy and quiet residential area, the gregarious owners have brightened up this hostel and the dorms are cheery, bright and reasonably spacious with a limit of six people per room. A total of 76 people can pillow down here. Included in the accommodation are two smaller rooms with private bathrooms which sleep four apiece - handy for the prototype nuclear family or a few chums. The building is fairly utilitarian and modern, but this is offset by the heady views of the mountains from many of the rooms, particularly on the upper floors. There are good facilities too, including a TV room, excellent communal washing facilities, a restaurant and small garden. Kayaking and canoeing courses can also be organised. Non HI-card holders can buy a one-night stamp or annual card on arrival.
