The Boston's austere classical façade gives no inkling of the explosion of modern art inside. Public areas are filled with original works by artists including Warhol, Lichtenstein and Aldo Mondino, along with goldfish bowls in the shape of giant wine glasses and other outlandish installations. Individually decorated rooms come with their own works of art and big, round bathtubs. The equally eye-catching bar is open from 17:00 until late daily.

In other words, if you are an 80 year old grandpa with conservative tastes you may not go for room 110 with its 'shoot 'em up' theme including giant metal safe (wardrobe), black bedspread, and gangster-moll style cartoons gracing the floor. For the chocoholics there's the Ferrer Rochas room (109), its floor ingeniously painted to simulate crinkly golden foil wrappers coupled with lip-smacking caramel-colour walls. There are more conventional rooms but even these are a notch above the Turin norm in the originality stakes. The public areas are just stunning. This place is fun! Collections of spoons, corks and chocolate wrappers are frozen under glass on the bar tables and there are some great Art Deco pieces. Beret and smock types will be bowled over by the art collection that reflects the owner's eclectic taste; Lichtenstein and Warhol are included among the mainly Italian painters.
