Cornering both Neuer Markt and Kärntner Strasse, this central-yet-quiet pension offers views across the rooftops of the Innere Stadt (or at least into the neighbour's rooftop balconies). Aviano earns its bonus points for its position but also a high standard of rooms and an all-round feeling of value.

Its standard rooms are small without being claustrophobic while its superior variety are exceedingly large, easily accommodating a sofa and accompanying chairs; corner rooms have a charming alcove looking directly along the length of Vienna's main pedestrian street. All are spotlessly clean and filled with furniture that certainly won't win any designer awards but will satisfy 99% of guests' comfort needs. The breakfast room is sunny and bright, and in summer utilises a small balcony on the inner courtyard. Cheap parking, arranged by the pension's personable staff, is not far away.
