As exclusive a boutique hotel as you'll find anywhere, this wonderful new property successfully blends the traditional Victorian features of the building with a sexy, contemporary style. The 20 fabulously different suites come with plasma screen TVs, drench showers and Elemis toiletries as standard. You know you're somewhere swanky when your only choice of room is three kinds of suite. The 'smallest' of the three is the House Suite, actually a big room with separate 'areas' rather than rooms for work, play and sleep. You can relax on Egyptian cotton sheets and watch your favourite DVD on a big plasma screen TV before running a deep, hot bath and lacing it with Elemis bubbles…doors just seem so irrelevant. The Master Suite is a bigger version of the House Suite; we liked the bathroom as wet room, where the whole room forms the boundaries of the shower. At the top of the heap is the sumptuous Grand Suite - maybe not quite as grand as a room fit for, say, Louis XIV, but pretty impressive all the same.
