The quietest of Vancouver's three HI hostels, the 'downtown' branch is actually in the West End, a short walk from the center of all the action. It's a friendly, if slightly institutionalized, sleepover that's popular with groups and families and offers a raft of extras including free continental breakfast.Much quieter than the HI Central, the dorms are small and the welcome is warm - this is an especially good hostel option for traveling families. There's a full kitchen, on-site bike rentals and free movies in the TV room, plus free regional tours with Erik, a near-legendary twinkle-eyed HI volunteer who's been introducing visitors to the city for more than a decade. The dorms can accommodate up to four people and there are some private rooms if you want to avoid other people's smelly socks. Rates include continental breakfast.
