An ultra-posh place where there are no rooms as such, only classy apartments each with a living room, bedroom and bathroom. Then there are DVD players and home cinema systems with six speakers, Turkish baths, Finnish saunas... need we go on? If your pockets are deep and you want to feel like the king of the hill for the night, look no further.

By far the best address in town, this, small all-suite hotel is ideally located in a wonderful atmospheric part of old Belgrade, replete with period buildings and ornate Serbian Orthodox churches. On the edge of a pedestrianised area, it's quiet but most of the city's sights are on your doorstep. The suites inside the green-roofed, cream-yellow, 19th-century complex are lavishly but stylishly furnished and well appointed. Each comes with a living room decked out with an entertainment system, a bedroom with a large comfortable bed and a bathroom featuring a power shower so advanced it looks like the business end of a particle accelerator and comes with its own instruction manual. There's wireless Internet throughout, air-con, a gym, a guests-only cafe terrace with views across to the River Sava, and lively good eating and drinking options in the attached restaurants and bar.
