Lonely Planet review

Slick and snazzy, Sleep Well is decked out with minimalist industrial overtones. Recently it's gone the whole hog and opened the adjoining Sleep Well Star, with smart but spartan private rooms with en suites, TVs and no lockout (the regular hostel wing kicks you out between 11:00 and 15:00 each day). There's no mistaking you're in Brussels: the skylit atrium-style lobby has a soaring comic strip mural and a bubbling replica of the ubiquitous Manneken Pis fountain. It's all shiny tiles and steel balustrades, which ups the decibel level. The hip in-house bar's tucked away - on the ground floor in summer, overflowing to the lavender-filled terrace; or in the basement for a cosier vibe when the temperature drops. Unless the lockout's going to cause you hassles, you may prefer the cheaper un-Starred quarters (who wants to be watching TV over the passing parade on the streets of Brussels, anyway?). Every room has a locker, but you need to provide the padlock. A very simple breakfast is included. There are no self-catering facilities, but the nearby City2 shopping centre has a better than average, inexpensive food court in the basement.
