It's hard to get much closer to the action - the action of parks, art and death, that is. This modern and friendly hotel sits directly across from the lovely Plaza Intendente Alvear, which is just outside the Recoleta Cemetery, and is walking distance from several of the city's best museums.

In other words, the location is superb. The other big favourite about Hotel Plaza Francia is the views. Snag a room on one of the upper floors and you'll be gazing all the way to the Río de la Plata (and beyond) and across the plazas of Recoleta. You can even watch the planes land at Aeroparque. The 13th-floor junior suite has a balcony. The rooms are fairly straightforward but totally comfortable with wi-fi, big TVs and double glazed windows to keep out the noise of cars zooming along Av del Libertador. A delicious breakfast - including scrambled eggs (a rarity for breakfast here) cold cuts, yogurt, cereal and pastries - comes with the price.
