It does indeed resemble a village from the outside, but this sprawling resort utilises plenty of foliage to keep quarters as private as possible. Behind the spacious lobby nestle a variety of rooms from motel-like 'standards' to three-bedroom apartments. All rooms are generically pleasing in a department store kind of way. Because they're non-specific they lure crowds of middle-aged couples, tour groups and families by the truckload. Standard rooms are cheapest and their slightly split level interiors are clinically clean and flavoured. The pricier apartments are clothed in ubiquitous chain-style couch and bed covers, but families will be hard-pressed to find the same size and quality of facilities elsewhere. Offsetting the condo-complex exterior of the resort is a pleasant pebble-lined pool with sweeping palms hanging overhead. Service is efficient (and sometimes officious).

The Bayleaf Restaurant here is reason enough to book a room. Wide timber tables, sweeping bay doors and an open-air frontage seduce patrons into long and languid breakfasts. At sundown a warm ambience simmers thanks to the flicker of low-set candles and the scent of mojitos and a fabulous, Asian infused menu.
