This is an elegant river-front hotel with excellent amenities, such as a lovely pool and good restaurants, but it's somewhat soulless and inconveniently located a little too far north of the city centre. With its indoor palm trees and peculiar water sculpture smack-bang in the middle of the foyer, this is an odd Conrad. There are good views of the Nile from many of the rooms which are very large and comfortable, with all amenities, mod cons and excellent bathroom toiletries that you expect of a good five-star. There's a decent heath club and the outdoor pool area is welcoming and makes for a great place to cool off after a hot day's sightseeing. The seafood (Sea Market) and Italian (Villa D'Este) restaurants are well-regarded, but the casino and bar are uninspired. The hotel's good for families, with plenty of activities and services for children. There's also a decent mall close by.

While you could walk down the Corniche and across to Zamalek, you'll most likely be catching cabs everywhere. It is, however, on the right side of the Nile, so it's not too far to places like the Egyptian Museum.
In case you need it, the hotel has a helipad.
