Heavenly Malmaison is just so... now daaaahling. Cutting edge urban living at its best, this sassy sister of hospitality is super slinky and a cornerstone of faith in Glaswegian accommodation. In a converted Greek Orthodox church the only prayers said here are those giving thanks to the gods of indulgence.

Inside, features include a spiral staircase and wrought iron aplenty. Styling rooms with their moody lighting have a dark, brooding tone, plush furnishings and a designer touch. They vary in size, generally twins seem to be more spacious than doubles - the voyeuristic may appreciate the views from rooms in the new wing that overlook a central, open sitting area; they also have a slightly less floral touch and lower ceilings. Ensuites feature chunky Belfast-style washbasins and are clean enough to have your dinner in. On-site there's a darkish bar that conjures up images of Gotham City - don't be surprised if you see Batman curled up in the corner, nursing a bloody Mary. The staff are friendly and courteous, as you'd expect in this great city, and it's very Glaswegian - funky, but down to earth, designer but without the pretensions.
