This quiet guesthouse on the fringes of the Art Nouveau district occupies that grey area between hostel and hotel. It's that rare budget hotel that pays attention to the details, including a big breakfast laid out in one of Riga's nicest communal kitchens.

Lenz is that rare budget hotel that pays attention to the details, with bright pinewood floors and furniture, ample space, free broadband Internet access in the rooms, unlimited use of the public computer, options to suit all budget types, and a superb breakfast laid out in one of Riga's nicest communal kitchens. Fans of the popular Litinterp chain in Lithuania will feel right at home here. Save a few lats by using the common bathrooms, which are private, plentiful and almost always available. It's not perfect: the BYOS (bring your own soap) policy is annoying, doors are paper thin and rooms seem to lack mirrors and towel hooks. If you bend over in the small shower you may get scalded when your ass inadvertently knocks the tap. But all in all, a mighty fine deal.
