A big old hotel on the main drag, the Palace brings some stately touches to the table. Rooms are generously sized with good, functional bathrooms. Those out the front have good views out over the busy avenue.

The comfortable and stylish lobby here incorporates Trevi, one of the better Italian restaurants in town, whose wine bottle-lined walls add their own touch of character. You can take the antiquated elevator to your room (not advised for claustrophobics), or else opt for the narrow winding spiral staircase. Each floor has a comfortable communal sitting area where plush lounge suites upholstered in baroque styles await. The hallways have a certain charm, too, as they are carpeted with Persian hall runners. There's plenty of space to move within the rooms and enough classic furniture to keep you comfortable. Textured wallpaper with subtle designs area a pleasant hangover from the past. Bathrooms have been recently renovated and are clean, spacious and modern(ish).
