Lonely Planet review

Located within stumbling distance from the Valley's pubs and clubs, Bunk ticks all the boxes. Set in a mammoth building, rooms have a refreshing earthy feel with terracotta-coloured walls, impressive wooden floors and green bed linen. On the ground level there's a heated pool and spa, an awesome beer garden, and you can party all night at the adjoining Birdie Num Num nightclub.
From the plastic Barbie lights hanging in the lobby to the techno sounds pulsating through the lobby, Bunk is a high-concept backpackers with funky, futuristic decor, aimed squarely at trendy young things on the travelling razzle. They provide a dizzying range of services, from a job centre and travel desk to Internet surfing, a convenience store and a courtesy bus. The luxurious rooms and dorms have wooden floors, high ceilings, en suite bathrooms and electronic key entry systems. The deluxe double rooms are even more upmarket - they've got decor that would do justice to a trendy hotel, together with TVs, fridges, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. The adjoining bar, Birdee Num Num, looks as though it should be on a concept album cover with its enormous leather bed-cum-couches, its outdoor pool tables and lap pool. The main draws, however, are its many and varied drink promotions.
