Against all odds, everything fits: the Greek columns with oriental wall blossoms, the Italian Renaissance mouldings with the stuffed English antique chairs. It's an interior designer's fantasy come true. Although slightly removed from Old Montreal, the road in front of Hôtel le St James leads to all the main sights and if you don't like walking, hop aboard a horse-drawn carriage. The restaurant oozes sophistication, and the menu includes Lobster Bisque (C$36.00) and seabass with truffle juice (C$39.00). The staff love to dote on guests, so don't be afraid to ask for anything your little heart desires.
