Its ski and bike storage facilities also make this an ideal stopover for sports enthusiasts.Located on a surprisingly quiet leafy street near Stanley Park, the heritage-era Buchan hotel houses a warren of comfortable, mostly basic rooms that attract visitors looking for some kind of bang for their budget-travelling buck. Along corridors lined with monochrome prints of yesteryear Vancouver, the cheaper rooms - many with shared bathrooms - are clean and cosy, although some contain dingy furnishings and older blankets. The pricier rooms are correspondingly prettier and the east-side rooms are a bit brighter. The front-desk staff are excellent, however, and happy to help plan your day out with maps, coupons and suggestions for top local attractions. The highly affordable Buchan - there are some excellent deals off-season - also provides laundry facilities to its guests.
