Sleek, stylish and very hip, this gorgeous boutique hotel spreads out over four 18th-century townhouses in one of the most prestigious parts of town. Although a truly modern hotel, the clean-cut contemporary design contrasts with the period grandeur to give a touch of sophisticated 18th-century class.Allow yourself to wallow in the luxurious finishes, rich colour schemes and modern simplicity of the Queensberry and you may find it difficult to check out again at the end of your stay. The plush carpets, squishy sofas, massive beds and luxurious throws are gloriously welcoming while the graceful proportions of the buildings give a real sense of style and elegance. All rooms are individually decorated but the opulent junior suites are by far the grandest with their elaborate plaster ceilings, open fireplaces and large windows streaming in light. They occupy what were the 1st-floor drawing rooms of the original houses and give a glimpse of the magnificent architectural styling for which the city is famous. A bewildering array of steps leads down to the secluded terraced garden and the basement Olive Tree restaurant, known locally as one of the top spots in town to eat.
