Lonely Planet review

Rivalling the Intercontinental Resort for the best luxury option on Tahiti, Le Meridien packs a swanky punch. It's further away from town and the airport, but it's newer and in an area better suited for snorkelling and wandering.
The Meridien surrounds you with water. A giant koi pond spreads across the restaurant roof in front of the reception area, and the grounds are marked by more koi and lily ponds. These blend harmoniously into the white sand and sweeping saltwater pool that is dotted with little islands of basalt rock. The ocean is perfect to swim and snorkel in and the view is unobstructed Pacific blue. The grounds are simply lovely, the bungalows spacious, but the rooms are unfortunately close to looking like a run-of-the-mill chain hotel. The hotel was obviously designed to mix Polynesian and modern architecture; the Polynesian aspects are beautiful but the modern touches border on tacky. The restaurant receives mixed reviews.
