Lonely Planet review

Since it opened its doors in the mid-1990s the palatial four-star Park House Hotel just off Eyre Square has become one of Galway's most elegant places to stay. A full Irish breakfast is included. If you feel like being well and truly spoiled, this plush place housed within a gorgeous old former farm-feed wholesale warehouse will do the job nicely. With regal guest rooms and a sumptuously carpeted lobby scattered with embroidered armchairs, luxuries at this 84-room hotel include a turndown service, Molton Brown bath products, free broadband Internet access, morning and evening newspapers, laptop-size in-room safes, free private parking (a huge coup, with a free valet service, no less), and air-con (not that Galway really needs it, but hey, just in case). All rooms are grandly proportioned, and the pricier deluxe rooms verge on the size of private apartments, with some even incorporating a private dining room.
