This lovely family-owned guesthouse is a welcome alternative to the high-rise hotels making up the bulk of São Paulo's accommodation. The rooms are simple but tidy and excellent value given the neighborhood.
Set in an attractive yellow-brick building with an aura of colonial charm, the rooms are tucked away in back, overlooking a pleasant inner courtyard. Inside, you'll find small, very basic quarters with tile floors and minimal furnishings (some of them have an armchair), though the pick of the bunch has French doors and an airier feel. The communal areas are more inviting, particularly the lovely cafe attached to the pousada, which serves good coffee and tasty breads in an ambience more Parisian than Paulistano.
