The Belcove offers simple rooms, mostly with fans. This isn't the best street in town, but the rooms are better than most of the budget competition - big, clean and well-ventilated. Out the back, there's a lovely communal balcony overlooking the river. The best rooms here are out the back, both in terms of river views and the breezes coming in through the big, mosquito-netted windows. Some rooms are 'deluxe', with air-con, TV and private bathrooms, but even the more basic ones, with shared bathroom, are a good deal - cleaner and bigger than many around town in this price range. The real draws at this place are the big balconies out the back, overlooking the river. From here you can watch traditional and modern Belizean life as it floats by - fishermen bringing in the daily catch and water taxis zipping around.

Just around the corner is Battlefield Park. There are a few shady benches around the place and it's a great spot for people watching - this little park seems to attract every weird and wonderful character in the city.
