Charlie Chaplin once stayed in this country inn, the city's oldest continually-operating lodging. The Spanish-style units have southwest decor (think Native American weaving patterns and rough-hewn furniture), and many boast wood-burning fireplaces and private patios.

Tucked behind billowing bougainvillea, its 23 rooms run the gamut from single and double rooms, and one or two-bedroom suites, to private, secluded guests cottages. All have access to the kidney-shaped pool and shaded hot tub. Continental breakfast is included in your room rate, and if you get a room with a kitchen you may never have to leave. All in all, an intimate place where you can forget the outside world, or bring the family. Wi-fi available.
