Address: Calle mohedano, El rosal , Caracas , Venezuela
Never mind those other hotels, this newcomer seems to say, we've got the style to be the hotel for modern business travellers. Standing on the northern edge of modish Las Mercedes, the cool white tower is innovatively designed with the hip young exec in mind. The Hotel seems determined to break away from the stodginess of standard business-class lodgings. Claiming to be Caracas' first boutique business hotel, it's eclectically furnished with a melange of objects from Thailand and India or custom-designed to a thrift-store aesthetic. The L-shaped sentinel exudes a soft glow over its own front plaza. Beyond the reception area, brimming with postmodern knick-knacks, you'll find a Mac and PC for guest surfing and a candlelit bar with Jetsons stools and a bank of flat-screen TVs tuned to the Cartoon Network. Further back is a restaurant serving French-Asian fusion cuisine, opening onto a sleek rear patio with canopied beds for lounging. Robotic bellboys escort you to your globally decorated room with a futonesque bed and prismatic mirror overhead. High-tech features include iPod connections, DVD players and wireless internet.

El Rosal is just north of the fashionable dining district of Las Mercedes, with about a hundred restaurants packed into a 30-block area. After dinner, the rumba keeps rolling in the zone's numerous bars and dance clubs. Alternatively, you could spend the evening listening to great jazz at the Juan Sebastian Bar, a short walk west of the hotel.
