Lonely Planet Review

Quotes Davy Crockett is said to have defended his post from the spot this hotel now occupies. What remains of the Alamo is less than 20 steps away. Somehow this 1909 city hotel manages to keep out of the Victorian fray of sister hotel, the Menger.

Author Tip

Before exploring the remains of the historic mission-fort, you may want to first attend a showing of the Imax Alamo movie in nearby Rivercenter Mall. It illuminates the battle even more vividly than the short film in the Long Barracks Museum. As you tour the Alamo, remember that the grounds extended past where you're sleeping tonight.
