Given that this casual and friendly B&B is the combined result of two homes and a carriage house, it should come as no surprise that it'll feel like you're holed up at a good friend's house for an extended stay. Thankfully though, as a paying guest, there won't be hints dropped to leave after the third day.

The owner of this place (and yes, his name really is Adam) has created the antithesis of stuffy, potpourri-filled B&Bs. The living room is just that, a large room with comfortable sofas where you can converse or watch TV or a DVD. And although there's more than one dining room, they're not so posh that they'll stop you from fixing yourself a home-style breakfast, with everything right down to the assortment of economy-sized boxes of cereal supplied. There's a computer in a nook with a good view of the sunny backyard and plenty of room should you decide to forgo the adventure of an Adams-Morgan eatery and instead prepare your own barbecue (or in winter, say, a stew). The 25 walk-up rooms are comfortably furnished in a mix of antiques and Ikea.
