Schlossherberge is a long way from the city centre, but if you can get over this and be happy with glorious views of Vienna, instant access to the Vienna Woods, a peaceful ambience and simple, appealing rooms, then this is your kind of place.

It's a perfect spot for families and those looking for both a city and a nature break. Fun stuff for kids both big and small include mini golf, table tennis, PlayStation and large meadows, and not far away is the Ottakringer swimming pools and the Vienna Woods. The bright and colourful rooms contain solid wooden bunk beds, attached bathrooms, individual lockers and heavy curtains that will keep out the invading morning sunlight if that's what's desired. Note that Schlossherberge may have 'Schloss' (palace) in its name, but it is by no means palatial; it's a modern building with a minimum of extravagance. But if you're up to your eyeballs in 'back-to-basics', you can always nip over to the neighbouring cafe in Hotel Schloss Wilhelminenberg and lap up the luxury for a couple of hours.
