Lonely Planet Review

Located in the heart of Itaewon, the venerable Hamilton Hotel is an institution in these parts. Although Itaewon isn't what it used to be, it's an entertainment district still worth exploring for stimulating bars, handmade clothing shops and a small number of interesting eateries. There's lots to like about the new and improved Hamilton Hotel. After a thorough remodelling of the building and most of the furnishings, the whole place has a spiffy look and feel, which is a considerable improvement to what used to be a rather staid property. Progress does, however, come at a cost with room rates that appear high though nothing that approaches exorbitant. Unless you really need to be in the heart of Itaewon, it's hard to imagine why single travellers would stay here; the cost of a single seems pricey given the somewhat cramped feel. The deluxe twin room is a different matter, as most families will find the room leans toward spacious even though it's equipped with a twin and single bed. Free access to the outdoor pool during the summer for hotel guests is also a definite plus for the Hamilton.
