Good deals can be had at the Kingston, especially off season. Many rooms are small but well maintained and a large number have been recently upgraded. Great location.

A long-running revamp has finally improved many of the rooms at this 1910-built property, but quite a few rooms are still relatively small. The new décor includes classic-look furnishings and flowery bedspreads jockeying for attention with period features including, in some rooms, old-school stand-alone sinks or ironwork radiators. Reflecting its European pension approach, around two-thirds of the units have shared bathrooms. The remaining en suites enjoy either showers or tiny bathtubs. Rates include continental breakfast and there's a popular resto-bar next door (the patio is recommended). On-site amenities include guest laundry, free wi-fi in most rooms (a free-use internet computer terminal is also available) and a small sauna on the second level. The location, close to sports stadiums and the entertainment district, is the hotel's biggest plus.
