O'Malley's is an affable Irish pub with traditionally decorated, well-furnished rooms upstairs (most with bathrooms; all with TVs) at truly great prices. The Kings Cross location is unbeatable if you're hankering to be in the thick of things. Most of the rooms here are surprisingly quiet, given the William St traffic and musical meanderings happening down in the bar (but if you're a light sleeper or allergic to jigs, you might want to bed down elsewhere). Most people seem to come here for the warm welcome and the happy atmosphere. There's nothing posh about a stay here, but you will feel like a valued guest - a lot more than can be said of most of the cram-'em-in Kings Cross hostels. Everything is well maintained, plus all the accommodation is nonsmoking. Book yourself a Harbour View Suite (complete with kitchenette) if you're in the mood for some twinkling skyline lights at night.

If you're into live music, head downstairs where bands kick out the jams every night of the week (everything from raucous rock to Irish twiddle-dee-dee). There are also plenty of big screens on which to watch the big soccer/rugby/AFL football matches.
