Trickett's is the best B&B in Sydney - one night here will show you why. It's a 4.5-star mansion with loads of character - a thoroughly sumptuous experience. With just six bedrooms in service and a long list of repeat guests, you'll need to book ahead, and you'll find it very hard to leave.

The garrulous Liz Trickett has lovingly restored this magnificent 19th-century mansion herself, and her attention to detail is evident throughout. Rooms are heavenly, all have bathrooms (with frameless-glass showers), and rates include a delicious continental breakfast served indoors or out, depending on the weather. The mansion's gilt-rimmed ballroom now serves as the living room, with a drinks tray on hand, racks of good books and enough conversation-starting objets d'art to have you convinced you're in an antique dealer's. There's a deck out the back, beautiful gardens, a few lazy cats and a baby grand to tinkle on. Wireless internet also available.
