Lonely Planet review

This hotel is in a large, beautiful old house with a peculiar sculpture out the front (you can't miss it). Its location is excellent - close to the city on Sydney's charming, leafy and tranquil north shore - with the added lure of being able to hop on a ferry and be in Circular Quay in a matter of minutes. It has nicely maintained, clean rooms with fridge, TV and ceiling fans and helpful, friendly multilingual management. Bathrooms are shared, but they're kept in damn good nick and there are more than enough to go around. The communal areas of the lodge are worth spending time in - with cable TV in the comfortable lounge and lovely large verandahs where you can kick back and admire the treetops and the odd water view. You can also have decent, simple dinners here from Sunday to Thursday - although there are some charming eateries in this neck of the woods too. Prices for simpler rooms are cheaper, with reductions for longer stays on all rooms.
